Mr Lambrechts is a career diplomat, currently serving as Counsellor: Political at the South Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal for the period 2017 until 2020.
Mr Lambrechts has served his previous postings in Manila, Philippines (2009 – 2013), Canberra, Australia (2003 – 2005), Dublin, Ireland (1995 – 1999), London, United Kingdom (1990 – 1993).
During the period 2014 – 2016 he was responsible for International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and refugee issues in the Directorate: Humanitarian Affairs of the Department of International Relations and Co-operation (DIRCO) in Pretoria, South Africa and represented South Africa at the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Executive Council in Geneva, Switzerland.
Previously he was deployed in the Media Directorate, the African, European and Mutilateral Branches, while also being deployed in the Cape Town Parliamentary Office of DIRCO.
Mr Lambrechts graduated from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa with a Masters Degree in International Politics. He also completed a Post-graduate Diploma in Diplomacy at the University of Oxford through the British Council as well as a Public Management Development Diploma at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
